Chris Kannady is an Oklahoman. His strong Oklahoma foundation inspired him to defend our country throughout the world. After he returned home, he was elected in 2014 to represent South Oklahoma City’s state House District 91 in 2014.
Representative Kannady quickly rose to leadership and is the Assistant Majority Floor Leader. He serves on the following committees: Judiciary – Civil and Environmental, chairman; Appropriations and Budget; A&B Judiciary; Energy and Natural Resources; Health Services and Long-Term Care; the Joint Committee on Appropriations and Budget; and the Special Investigation Committee.
Chris is a United States Marine Corps veteran where he proudly served for nearly a decade, and is currently in the Oklahoma National Guard.
Chris graduated from the University of Oklahoma with three degrees: undergraduate, law and MBA. While at OU, he served as vice president and chair of the Graduate Student Senate and president of the Student Government Association. While serving as a Marine, Chris furthered his education with a master’s degree from George Washington University in national security and foreign relations.
He first answered the call to duty after 9/11. Within a few months after marrying his college sweetheart, he was deployed to Iraq where he was a prosecutor and handled detainee operations. Chris spent his years in the Marines traveling across the world and the U.S. He was deployed three times to Afghanistan and once to Iraq, among other military hotbeds throughout the world.
After a serious knee injury in Afghanistan, Chris left the Marines to come home. He and his wife, Renee, have two young children, Kannon and Shelby. Renee works at Children’s Hospital and Chris continues to help fellow veterans at Foshee and Yaffe.
